Overview

If you’re ever in Metairie, Louisiana, and you find yourself craving something indulgent, look no further than The Freakshake Cafe/New Orleans Muffuletta Company. Nestled at 2725 Mississippi Ave, this hidden gem combines two beloved concepts under one roof - delicious freakshakes and the classic New Orleans muffuletta. Whether you’re in the mood for a towering dessert or a savory sandwich, this spot offers an exciting blend of flavors that’ll satisfy your taste buds.

The Freakshake Cafe is an absolute treat for anyone with a sweet tooth. Walking into this cozy cafe, you’re greeted by an array of over-the-top shakes that are as much a work of art as they are a snack. These aren’t your average milkshakes; they come piled high with whipped cream, candy, cookies, chocolate drizzles, and more. It’s the kind of dessert that’s perfect for sharing-or, if you’re up for it, challenging yourself to finish solo. The café’s signature freakshakes are an Instagrammer’s dream. Each one looks almost too beautiful to drink, but trust us, they’re just as delicious as they are eye-catching.

A great example is the "Chocolate Overload" freakshake, where a thick, creamy shake is topped with brownie pieces, chocolate syrup, and chocolate chips. It’s decadent in the best possible way. If you prefer something a little more daring, the “Caramel Pretzel” freakshake balances sweet and salty flavors in an unforgettable combination. No matter which flavor you pick, the quality and richness of the shakes will have you coming back for more.

However, the experience at The Freakshake Cafe/New Orleans Muffuletta Company isn’t limited to just sweet treats. If you’re craving something savory, you can’t go wrong with the New Orleans Muffuletta. This legendary sandwich brings a taste of the Big Easy right to Metairie, with layers of flavorful meats, cheeses, and a tangy olive salad. It’s a classic choice that never disappoints. The muffuletta here is stacked high, with every bite offering a balance of flavors that’s hard to beat.

What makes this place stand out is not only the creativity of the freakshakes and the authenticity of the muffuletta but also the dedication to quality. The ingredients are fresh, and the preparation is meticulous. Whether it’s the perfectly toasted bread on the muffuletta or the indulgent, velvety texture of the shakes, every detail is carefully thought out to ensure an unforgettable meal. It’s no wonder that both locals and visitors flock here for a meal or snack they know will hit the spot.

The café’s friendly atmosphere is another reason why people keep coming back. The staff is always welcoming and happy to help you decide between their irresistible shake flavors or recommend a mouth-watering muffin or sandwich to pair it with. Plus, if you’re sitting down to eat, the vibrant interior adds to the overall experience, making it feel like you’re part of the local community.

With the hustle and bustle of the Metairie area, The Freakshake Cafe/New Orleans Muffuletta Company offers the perfect place to take a break and indulge. You can grab a quick, satisfying meal on the go, or you can sit down, relax, and enjoy the full experience. The convenience of its location, combined with the variety of offerings, makes it a standout choice for anyone looking to try something new or savor a beloved classic.

The café regularly updates its menu with seasonal items, so there’s always something new to try. This means you can expect fresh takes on their signature offerings, keeping both locals and tourists alike excited to stop by. From their vast milkshake selection to their hearty muffuletta sandwiches, there’s always something to match any craving. If you’re lucky, you might even catch a limited-edition freakshake or sandwich that’s only available for a short time.

Whether you’re coming for the shakes, the muffuletta, or just the overall fun atmosphere, The Freakshake Cafe/New Orleans Muffuletta Company is a must-visit spot. It’s an experience that brings together the best of both worlds: the sweet and the savory.

Its a nice place to stop in for a good dessert. It looks like They're still working on the full menu for May,but what they have right now seems pretty good. The space is organized a little weird, but it doesn't affect the atmosphere in any way. The staff and the head chef were very nice and the shake they recommended was pretty good. Its one of those good mom and pop places that every one should try out.

Was in Louisiana for a convention and scoped this out wayyyy ahead of time. Freakshakes hadn't caught on in Texas yet! Totally worth the drive from New Orleans.

Great new small business. We got the chicken n red gravy. I found the gravy could have used more seasonings. I didn't see any bell peppers n wondered what about a bay left ? ? The pizzas are wonderful. I would say YES Give a try.

The best muffaletta I've ever eaten, hands down, but their hours on Google maps are not updated. I've tried to.come back three times when they're supposed to be open, but are closed. :(

I went awhile ago with friends and forgot to comment. It is a great place to go with friends for a fancy dessert and an experience. The owner is very nice and would recommend it at least once to everyone.
